Snorers at greater risk of heart attack...

Snoring 'may raise risk of heart attacks' - Telegraph

Extract:

"Loud snorers who have difficulty breathing in their sleep could be at a greater risk of a heart attack, a study claims.

Researchers found that such sleepers produce less nitric oxide, a gas which opens up arteries to increase blood flow and helps to keep blood pressure at a healthy level.

The study was based on 14 patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), a condition that causes breathing difficulties while sleeping as well as loud snoring and often choking."

Actually. both snoring and heart attacks (as well as sleep apnoea and breathing difficulties and many other health problems) usually share a common cause - obesity - and since obesity is caused by fluid retention/salt sensitivity, both snoring and the risk of heart attack can be safely reduced by cutting down on salt and salty food as this reduces fluid retention.
