Leave it out! - The salt, that is.

If you want to lose excess weight, the fastest, simplest, safest way is to leave out the salt when you are cooking, give up sprinkling salt on your meal and cut down on the ready meals/fast food/processed food/pizzas/crisps and other highly-salted products that you eat. Home cooking of fresh food allows you to control the amount of salt that goes into a dish - as well as being more nutritious anyway. - Here's some information about the amount of salt/sodium in foods.

Dieting and weight loss drugs are not necessary for losing excess weight

Dieting and weight loss drugs are not necessary for losing weight: the fastest, easiest, safest, most reliable way to lose excess weight is to eat less salt/sodium and salty food. - And when I say that, I am NOT accusing you of eating a LOT of salt. - But whether you eat a lot of salt, or a moderate amount, or very little salt, the fact remains that you will lose excess weight very easily if you cut down on the amount of salt and salty food you eat.

Do you wonder why it is that some people can eat whatever they like, and as much as they like, and not become fat?

Do you wonder why it is that some people can eat whatever they like, and as much as they like, and not become fat, while other people become fat despite not eating a lot and not being lazy? - The explanation is that the people who become fat are vulnerable to salt. For them, eating salt causes them to retain extra bodily fluid and this causes rhem to become fatter and to gain weight.

The groups of people vulnerable to salt are babies and children, people who take or who have taken certain prescribed steroids, including prednisone and prednisolone, or certain other prescribed drugs, women who take or have taken HRT or other oestrogen-containing drugs such as some contraceptive medications, people who take or have taken amitriptyline or other tricyclic antidepressants or some other psychotropic/psychoactive drugs, pregnant mothers, PMT sufferers and people who ate salt as children. These groups need to minimise their salt intake.

Salt Can Cause Obesity

If you fall into one of the vulnerable groups I have listed or if you ate a high salt diet as a child you will be sensitive to salt. People without this problem can eat salty foods without doing a lot of harm to themselves, because their kidneys will excrete the sodium which is excess to their requirements. But for people sensitive to salt, some of the excess sodium, along with the water it attracts, will enter their blood stream and not be excreted. So they carry extra weight - as water - around with them all the time. They also lose more heat from their bodies because the surface area of their body has increased with the added water, and the rate at which a body loses heat is proportional to its surface area. - They therefore need extra calories to do the extra work and to provide the extra heat. - So their appetite increases in order to obtain these extra calories. - So they may very well eat more to satisfy their genuine need for calories. - If what they eat is salty, then the cycle will repeat itself and they are likely to become obese.

To break the cycle and put the process into reverse, all that is necessary for them to do is to eat less salt. And eating extra potassium by way of fresh fruit and vegetables will accelerate the excretion of the sodium and water and speed up the weight loss.

In my opinion, people who remain slim are slim not because they have strong will-power to resist extra calories, but because they have strong-walled healthy veins which can resist the incursion of extra salt water.

If you want to lose weight, eat less salt!

If you are fat, overweight or obese, cut down on salt and you will lose weight fast, safely and easily.

There is no need to diet, to count calories, to go hungry, to exercise or to take drugs risking adverse side-effects in order to lose excess weight. If you are fat, overweight or obese, you can lose weight fast, easily and safely by cutting down on salt and salty food. This reduces the fluid retention which is the underlying cause of excess weight.

It's not the calories in junk food that make you gain weight; it's the SALT.

It's not the calories in junk food that make you gain weight; it's the SALT.

Why do you think people find that diets don't work? - It's because obesity is caused by fluid retention/salt sensitivity, not by eating too many calories.

We all know people who eat like trenchermen but never get fat. - They are the lucky people who are not sensitive to salt. For them, eating salt doesn't lead to fluid retention because their strong veins can withstand the input of salt/sodium when they eat more of it than their body needs. - Their kidneys do not have a problem dealing with the salt/sodium and they excrete any excess salt/sodium in their urine, along with the water that salt always attracts to itself.

When excess fluid (i.e. excess salt and water) is held in the veins, the extra blood volume obviously adds to a person's weight: water weighs heavily in fact. - So if you are overweight and reduce your salt intake you will shed some of the excess fluid held in your body and will therefore lose weight - easily, safely and fast.

And do not despise the weight lost and think well, it's only water. - Water is what you NEED to lose in order to lose weight safely. - You don't want to lose lean muscle/firm flesh. You don't want your skin and bones to become thinner and more fragile. - You don't want to lose your hair.

Believe me: you want to lose excess fluid. - There is a great bonus to losing excess fluid. - If you have fat retention as well as fluid retention, then reducing salt intake also reduces fat retention.

There are no calories in salt - but if you cut down on salt you will easily lose weight. If you cut down on calories you will not lose weight.

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, stroke, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver damage and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs, hunger or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better! GlaxoSmithKline's OTC 'Slimming Pill', Alli, May Be Causing Liver Damage

The Telegraph reports that "the pill contains the drug orlistat which some users have claimed can bring on hepatitis and other liver abnormalities. Other reported side effects have been headaches, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, depression and fatigue."

You do not need to take risky'slimming' drugs to lose weight. The easiest, safest, fastest way to lose excess weight is to give up dieting and concentrate instead on avoiding salt and salty food. This entails eating plenty of real food, cooked from fresh, instead of processed food and ready meals, which contain a lot of added salt. Cutting down on salt/sodium causes the body to excrete excess water (fluid retention), which is the cause of excess weight.

People who are overweight/fat/obese are sensitive to salt, which for them can result in sodium and water retention and therefore, obviously, weight gain. This in turn can result in calcium deficiency, which causes fat retention. Reducing salt intake reduces both the fluid retention and the fat retention. - Reducing calories does not address the fluid retention problem at all and that is the explanation for the fact that diets don't work.

Prescription drugs including many steroids, many antidepressants, anti-psychotics and epilepsy drugs as well as other pharmaceuticals, are a major cause of fluid retention/obesity/salt sensitivity and especially of morbid obesity. - Avoid taking prescription drugs unless they are absolutely necessary.

Incidence of Obesity Continues to Rise in the US.

BBC News reports ever more widespread obesity in the United States, where the "economic crisis is partly blamed for rising obesity rates."

As in the UK and the rest of the developed world, obesity will continue to increase both in incidence and in severity until the truth is told about its causes and the best ways to prevent it and to reduce it. The current misinformation, widely and loudly iterated by obesity 'experts', the medical profession and the dieting industry, is fuelling this near-global health crisis.

Obesity is not caused by overeating; it is caused by salt sensitivity/fluid retention in vulnerable people. These include children. - See Vulnerable groups

When people whose blood vessels are weaker than the norm eat salt, the result is weight gain and obesity (because of excess sodium and water held in the blood vessels and elsewhere). This condition is also known as sodium retention, water retention, fluid retention, salt sensitivity or oedema
. If these people reduce their salt intake they lose some of the excess sodium and water, and so lose weight, and if they eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables they lose weight faster, because the potassium in the fruit and vegetables displaces some of the excess sodium from the body.

Prescription drugs including steroids, many antidepressants, anti-psychotics and epilepsy drugs as well as other pharmaceuticals, are a major cause of fluid retention/obesity and especially of morbid obesity. For the sake of your health it would be best to avoid prescribed medication, unless it is absolutely necessary.

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, stroke, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs, hunger or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better! I watched Hannah Jones' programme "Fix My Fat Head" last Tuesday evening on BBC1 and sent her an email afterwards with the information she needed, but I've not received a reply.

Hannah, "journalist, newspaper columnist, a published author" (see WalesOnLine), weighs over 20 stone, and her programme explored her thoughts and feelings about being obese and her unsuccessful efforts to lose weight by various means - hypnotherapy, Lighterlife, LifeShapers, psychotherapy...

It was great to see a programme about being fat that wasn't being presented by a patronising slim presenter or guru. Hannah Jones has a beautiful, mobile face and an engaging self-deprecating wit.

Unfortunately, like most of humanity, Hannah has been conditioned to believe that for a fat person to lose weight it is necessary to eat fewer calories and exercise more. Since this advice does not work, however hard she tries and however hungry and tired her efforts make her, she will not be able to succeed in losing weight by these methods.

I visited the WalesOnLine website and emailed Hannah from there. This is the message I sent:

Dear Hannah

I have the answer to your problem of losing weight. You do NOT need to diet or go hungry or exercise, but you do need to cut down on your sodium intake. Although you say you do not eat salt, you do eat a lot of food that contains a lot of added salt - added by someone else. - Your weight problem is caused by salt sensitivity which has led to fluid retention.

I am not selling anything or advertising anything and my advice is free - but it does work. I became fat as a result of taking prescribed steroid medication, so my website is www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk - Visit my website and read how to lose weight by eating less salt. - Go on! - Try it! - Read my Mensa article on Obesity and the Salt Connection: http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/obesity_and_the_salt_connection.html You have nothing to lose but your excess pounds!

Best wishes

and I gave my name and address and phone number. I've been disappointed not to receive a reply. I don't know whether Hannah has seen my message or not. I expect she received a great many messages after people saw her programme. - Maybe she will see my message here. - I do hope so. If she sees it and follows the advice in it and on my website she will lose weight easily, safely and rapidly. If she carries on trying to lose weight by dieting she will lose her looks and lose her health...)o:

If you are feeling depressed and guilty about gaining a lot of weight over the Christmas period, help is at hand!

You don't need to go hungry, cut down on calories/fat or take strenuous exercise...(o: Nor do you need to take dodgy drugs or go to 'slimming clubs' or buy diet books or employ a personal trainer...(o: You do not need to swell the bank balances of surgeons who perform weight loss surgery although there are many risks and failures associated with it. You do not need to spend your life trying one ineffective diet after another and developing the frailty and chronic illnesses that accrue to dieters. You do not need to sacrifice any more of your health, strength and beauty, and grow old before your time.

Despite the misinformation you have been fed over the years by the dieting industry and the medical profession, overweight is not caused by 'overeating'; it is caused by weakened blood vessels leading to fluid retention and salt sensitivity. - Here is how to reduce these problems easily, quickly and safely:

You wouldn't do it to your car, would you? - Run it on empty? - Don't do it to your body...

Starving/fasting/dieting/'slimming' - they're all harmful to your body. - You can buy a new car if you damage it by not giving it enough fuel to keep it running smoothly; you can't get a new body to live in...

If you want to lose weight, do it the SAFE, effective way: avoid salt and salty food. - This is also the FASTEST way to lose excess weight. - Truly!

Obesity is caused by salt sensitivity leading to fluid retention and thus to excess weight. There are various causes of salt sensitivity, the most dangerous of which is the reckless prescribing of certain groups of drugs by doctors who have not familiarised themselves with the side-effects of some of the powerful drugs they prescribe - drugs like steroids, ant-depressants and anti-psychotics and certain pain-killers and other drugs.

Giving up dieting, reducing salt intake and eating plenty of good food including plenty of fruit and (unsalted) vegetables and dairy calcium in milk and/or low fat yoghurt (not cheese, because it's salty) will ensure safe loss of excess weight.

Anne Diamond criticises the stigmatisation of fat people, whom she says are treated worse than drunks and junkies in society.

Anne Diamond: fat people get worse treatment than drunks and junkies in society
Article in the Telegraph

Extract:

"The former breakfast TV host, who once underwent radical surgery in her battle to lose weight, claimed obesity in Britain has reached crisis levels so quickly that the public do not understand it and stigmatise the seriously overweight.

She said the cost of treating illnesses linked to obesity, such as diabetes and heart disease, will bankrupt the National Health Service unless action is taken to help people lose weight.

But she added that she feared a likely Conservative government will only blame fat people for their size and not help tackle the problems of poor diet and lack of exercise that lie behind it.

Miss Diamond, 54, who made her name presenting TV-AM in the 1980s, returned to television in 2002 on Celebrity Big Brother having put on 5 stones.

She weighed almost 15st when she appeared on ITV's Celebrity Fit Club in 2006, but during filming admitted she had undergone surgery to help her lose weight, having a gastric band fitted to reduce the amount of food she could eat.

Miss Diamond is now writing a book about the global obesity epidemic and chaired a discussion at the National Obesity Forum's annual conference in London on Tuesday.

New research suggests three quarters of British adults are already overweight or obese, 10 per cent more than previously feared, with the NHS spending £4.2bn on treating diseases linked to weight last year.

Miss Diamond said: "Obesity is one of those things that is hugely stigmatised in society, but the more we talk about it, the more we get it into the open.

"We are much more sympathetic to credit card addicts, alcoholics and drug addicts than the obese."

If anyone should be stigmatised about obesity, it should not be the fat people themselves; it should be the medical profession, nutritionists and dieticians, and the rest of the malign dieting industry plus the manufacturers of salt-laden convenience 'food'. - They, especially the doctors, have caused the increase in the incidence and severity of obesity by proulgating the fraudulent claim that 'overeating' is the cause of obesity and that eating less food/fewer calories/less fat and taking more exercise will reduce obesity. - It doesn't and it won't!

Giving up dieting, reducing salt intake and eating plenty of good food including plenty of fruit and (unsalted) vegetables and dairy calcium in milk and/or low fat yoghurt (not cheese, because it's salty) will ensure safe loss of excess weight.

Obesity is caused by salt sensitivity leading to fluid retention and thus to excess weight. Devastated Frankie Gavin has had to withdraw from the Olympics boxing team because he could not get his weight low enough.

What a great pity! - Gavin has had to withdraw from the British Olympics boxing team because he could not get his weight low enough.
See Gavin out of Olympics
Article in the Independent

I could have told him how to get his weight lower - safely and fast - by avoiding salt and salty food.

Extract from the article:

"Devastated Frankie Gavin was flying home to Birmingham today with his Olympic dream in tatters after being forced to withdraw from the Games due to his failure to hit the lightweight limit.

Gavin, who had remained at the British team's holding camp in Beijing in a vain bid to shake off the extra pounds, finally admitted defeat in his long battle and will not now attend Friday morning's boxing weigh-in in Beijing.

The news has come as a hammer-blow for the British boxing team who had multiple medal hopes, none more so than Gavin, who would have started as gold medal favourite after winning the world title in Chicago last year.

Great Britain head coach Terry Edwards said: "Frankie has been working his whole boxing career towards the Olympic Games and he is obviously completely devastated.

"Whilst the support staff down in Macau and I, have done everything we could, regrettably it is clear that Frankie will not make his weight before tomorrow morning's weigh-in.""

If you are overweight/obese and want to lose weight, you can do it easily and safely, without hunger and without drugs. - Here's how:

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, angina, vascular dementia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!
