Fancy a Free, Safe Face Lift?

Fancy a Free, Safe Face Lift? - If your face seems to be sagging, with heavy, hanging folds of flesh, don't curse gravity and start to think about surgery to stretch and lift the skin and cut off excess. After all, lots of things can go wrong with surgery and it causes pain and costs a lot of money.

I invite you to consider this instead. - The heaviness of the hanging folds of skin on your face is principally because of excess fluid retention. This excess fluid is in the blood vessels - the veins or the tiny capillaries that are largely invisible except for some reddening of the skin. The excess fluid is excess water held there by some sodium retention/salt sensitivity.

If you seriously cut down on salt and salty food this will reduce the amount of excess water held in your blood vessels. (It just gets excreted in the urine.) So there will be less weight pulling your skin down. - An easy, completely safe face lift! - You will look younger and fitter, and you will feel so much better! - And as well as the 'face lift', you will have lost some of the excess fluid elsewhere on your body too, and so you will have lost some excess/surplus weight. - What's not to like!? - Lose excess weight by eating less salt! - Go on! - Try it!

Study links antidepressant use with increased risk of heart disease and stroke

Study of 513 middle-aged male twins links antidepressant use with increased risk of heart disease and stroke, as reported by the Times of India.

It should be recognised that antidepressant drugs work no better than dummy pills in any case and should not be being prescribed. Most antidepressants make you fatter and damage your health in many other ways, including causing brain damage years later. It is best to avoid these harmful, useless drugs.

Have you gained weight from taking birth control medication (contraceptives)?

And do you want to lose that extra weight? But you are finding it difficult? - You may be surprised to learn that the sex hormones in those contraceptive medications are steroids, and that some of them have some of the same side-effects on the body as the drugs we more usually think of as steroids.

Oestrogen is the sex hormone in contraceptives that is causing your weight gain. And that weight gain is because the oestrogen is causing some salt sensitivity. That means that when you eat salt you gain some weight because the salt is causing your body to retain water. - You know - water weight. - If you cut down on salt and salty food you will excrete some of that water your body is holding in your blood vessels, and so you will weigh less. You will also feel better and have more energy without all that excess fluid to carry round with you everywhere...(o:

Panorama: Spoilt Rotten - horrifying child health problems of obesity, bad teeth, drunkenness...

I was truly shocked at what I saw in this programme. You can watch the main points here or watch the whole programme on the i-Player: Spoilt Rotten

Poor little children having to have a general anaesthetic to have a lot of rotted teeth out! Poor little souls. Surely their mothers should/must have known that giving them lots of sweets and sugary stuff repeatedly would rot their teeth? That giving a sugary drink in a bottle to go to bed with is especially damaging? That children need to brush their teeth and go to bed with a clean mouth? - Couldn't/Didn't the mothers notice that their children's teeth were rotting? - Some of the teeth were eroded almost to the level of the gums!

Don't Health Visitors stress this sort of information to mothers? Dental decay like this should not be happening. As the programme stressed, this is an avoidable health problem. It's a great shame.

With regard to the obese children featured in the programme, the one most featured was Leon, a five year old lad who weighs over 10 stone! - Yet I heard not one mention of salt! - Not one! - The doctor advising Leon's mother stressed the need for the lad to exercise more, but it has been proved time and time again that exercise does not reduce or prevent child obesity. Exercise is a good thing but it does not reduce weight. How is it that doctors dealing with problems of child obesity are giving such unhelpful advice? When children become fat it is essentially because they are eating salty food. Parents should be told this.

Children are especially vulnerable to salt because of their small size and small blood volume, and because their blood vessels are weaker than those of adults. Salt, and the water it attracts to it, can more easily distend weak blood vessels than fully mature ones. The resulting increase in blood volume and other fluid retention results in weight gain, as well as higher blood pressure and many other undesirable consequences. The smaller the child, the less salt they should have - and a baby, of course, should have no salt at all. - Babies can die if they are fed salty food.

See Children and Obesity

And see Sodium in foods

The programme reported shocking instances of children taken to A and E because they were drunk! And we saw a 13 year old boy who regularly drinks excessive quantities of vodka! Maybe it is time, in the interests of child health, to set limits on the ease with which alcoholic drinks can be bought, and to raise the price of them.

Other children who had been treated for glue ear were suffering unnecessarily because of their parents smoking. Apparently the smoke interferes with the working of the grommets that had been inserted into their ears to assist their hearing. One father gave up smoking and that would have benefited both his own and his son's health. Another father claimed not to believe that his smoking was damaging his child and he continued to smoke. His cigarettes were more important to him than his child's health.

"Moderation in all things."

A SmugTwit has just had its email read out on Radio 5 Live. It was boasting that its waist has remained the same size (30 inches, iirc) for many years and includes the SmugTwit ritual claim that this is because of "Moderation in all things."

SmugTwits often attribute their slimness to various virtues - not being greedy/lazy/etc. Most of them, if they were honest, would admit that actually they can, and do, eat whatever they like and as much of it as they like, without gaining any weight, but they enjoy feeling superior to overweight/obese people and attributing excess weight to greed and/or laziness.

Slim people are slim because they have strong, healthy blood vessels and are not sensitive to salt. Their slimness has nothing to do with their moral fibre, nor, indeed, "moderation in all things"...(o:

Reduce Risk of Steroid/Oestrogen/HRT-Induced Asthma by Lowering Salt Intake

Reduce Risk/Severity of Steroid/Oestrogen/HRT-Induced Asthma by Lowering Salt Intake. There is a common element here. Certain steroids, of which oestrogen is one, frequently cause weakened blood vessels/weight gain/sodium retention/water retention/sensitivity to salt, the result of which is that the veins become distended/swollen as blood volume increases, retaining extra sodium and water. Obviously this extra weight has many negative effects on health, e.g. tiredness from carrying extra weight around, increased appetite because of needing more energy to carry the extra weight and service the heavier body, greater demands on the heart and lungs and kidneys, etc.

You can reduce all of these problems by reducing your sodium intake. You will then excrete some of the excess sodium from your body, along with its accompanying water. You will lose weight swiftly and safely and you will find your breathing is easier and you will feel much better.

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, stroke, osteopenia, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, boost your lung function and improve your health in many other ways without drugs, hunger or expense by eating less salt! - Try it!

Has Christmas excess left you troubled by bloating? - Try cutting down on salt and salty food.

Here are two definitions of bloating:

1. Swollen or distended beyond normal size by fluid or gaseous material.

2. Bloating is any abnormal general swelling, or increase in diameter of the abdominal area. As a symptom, the patient feels a full and tight abdomen.

Very commonly, the 'fluid material' is what I refer to as 'fluid retention', and can be thought of as salt water. When people whose blood vessels are weaker than the norm eat salt, the result is weight gain and bloating (because of excess sodium and water held in the blood vessels and elsewhere). This condition is also known as sodium retention, water retention, salt sensitivity or oedema. If these people reduce their salt intake they lose some of the excess sodium and water, and so lose weight, and if they eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables they lose weight faster, because the potassium in the fruit and vegetables displaces some of the excess sodium from the body.

Eating walnuts may be helpful for diabetics

Walnut-rich diet may boost diabetic heart health
Daily consumption of walnuts, rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, may improve the health of blood vessels, thereby decreasing the risk of heart disease, says a new study from Yale. Supplementing the diet of middle aged diabetics with 56 grams of walnuts led to significant improvements in the function of the blood vessel lining (endothelium), and there was also a trend towards improved cholesterol levels, according to findings published in Diabetes Care.

Higher levels of lycopene in the blood are linked to healthier blood vessels

Higher levels of lycopene in the blood are associated with lower stiffness in the arteries, says a new study supporting the heart health benefits of the carotenoid. Women with the highest levels of lycopene also had the lowest levels of oxidized LDL-cholesterol, according to a study with 264 women published in the journal Atherosclerosis. Oxidation of LDLs is thought to play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. Increasing LDL's resistance to oxidation is thought to possibly delay the progression of the disease.

Has your nose become bigger/redder/fatter/more bulbous? Do you wonder what to do about it?

The most likely reason for it is that you have become sensitive to salt and so the blood vessels in your nose, along with your other blood vessels, have become swollen with extra salt and water in your blood stream. - The good news is that if you cut down on salt/sodium all of this swelling will be reduced and your nose, along with the rest of your body, will look less red and bulbous. (If you happen to drink a lot of alcohol, it would also help if you reduce alcohol intake, but you doubtless already know that.)

Children as young as two need to be checked for signs of obesity to prevent future health problems, say Government advisers.

Two-year-olds should be checked for obesity, say health experts
article in the Telegraph

Extract:

"Health officials have asked experts to develop suitable tests for children as young as two determine if they are becoming overweight.

Advisers say that it is often too late by primary school to start addressing bad habits.

At a recent seminar hosted by the Westminster Health Forum, Dr Will Cavendish, from the Department of Health said: "The evidence is pretty horrible that one in four children are overweight or obese at reception and one in three at year six.

"Of course, we know that child obesity doesn't suddenly pop up at age four, five. We also know that we need to act on the early years, and indeed the pre-birth, family environment in order to get at this really effectively.""

All that is necessary, and, indeed, vital, is to give the facts about what causes obesity in children.

When children become fat it is essentially because they are eating salty food. Children are especially vulnerable to salt because of their small size and small blood volume, and because their blood vessels are weaker than those of adults. If you are feeling depressed and guilty about gaining a lot of weight over the Christmas period, help is at hand!

You don't need to go hungry, cut down on calories/fat or take strenuous exercise...(o: Nor do you need to take dodgy drugs or go to 'slimming clubs' or buy diet books or employ a personal trainer...(o: You do not need to swell the bank balances of surgeons who perform weight loss surgery although there are many risks and failures associated with it. You do not need to spend your life trying one ineffective diet after another and developing the frailty and chronic illnesses that accrue to dieters. You do not need to sacrifice any more of your health, strength and beauty, and grow old before your time.

Despite the misinformation you have been fed over the years by the dieting industry and the medical profession, overweight is not caused by 'overeating'; it is caused by weakened blood vessels leading to fluid retention and salt sensitivity. - Here is how to reduce these problems easily, quickly and safely:

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs, hunger or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!

The Telegraph reports that being overweight is a curse not just on a woman's health, but on her entire life, a new study has found.

Obesity is a curse for women
article in the Telegraph

Extract:

"Researchers have discovered that overweight women are more likely to lose their jobs, be a victim of crime and have money troubles. They are are more likely to be criminals themselves.

To make matters worse, because of these stressful life events, they are driven to comfort-eating which only perpetuates the problem, increasing the probability that they will be unluckier still."

The first paragraph of the extract I have chosen is doubtless correct. These findings are measurable and are capable of being checked to see if they can be replicated. - The second paragraph is assumption (false), based not on evidence, but on learned prejudice. - The fatter/more obese people are, obviously the more food/calories they need in order to service their heavier bodies - to move their heavier bodies around and to keep their bodies warm. - If the fat people do indeed eat the greater amount of food/calories they need why should it be called 'comfort-eating' or any other derogatory term?

And here's a fact - not an assumption for the misguided, condescending 'experts' that bring out these flawed 'studies' to ponder - when fat people disobey the dictates of their bodies' needs and stay hungry by forcing themselves to take the sort of advice these 'experts' give, i.e. to eat less food/fewer calories in order to lose excess weight, they do not lose excess weight: they gain weight.

This is because eating insufficient food for your body's requirements weakens the blood vessel walls (as well as weakening every other system and every organ in the body), thus bringing about swollen, overstretched veins containing more fluid, and it is fluid retention that is the cause of obesity/excess weight. Whilever women and men continue to be constantly misinformed by the foolish, unscientific 'experts', obesity will continue to increase both in incidence and in severity.

To lose excess weight it is necessary to eat less salt and salty food because this will reduce the body's fluid retention. This is the safe, sure, healthy way to lose weight and it works like magic.

DON'T DIET! - Dieting is unnecessary, harmful and IT DOES NOT WORK!

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!

There are thousands of miles of blood vessels in the human body and every inch becomes a little swollen if they become weakened by dieting/'slimming'

There are many thousands of miles of blood vessels in the human body and every inch becomes a little swollen/distended/dilated if the blood vessels become weakened by dieting/'slimming'/fasting or relaxed by certain prescription drugs, e.g. tricyclic anti-depressants like amitriptyline, cortico-steroids, oestrogen-rich medications, anti-psychotics, certain painkillers, etc. - This means in effect that because of fluid retention with sodium and the water it attracts to itself, increased blood volume will cause you to gain excess weight.

When I googled to find how many miles I found different estimates - 60,000, 62,000 and 100,ooo miles. - You may possibly find other estimates; but it's clearly a helluva lot!

If it were not so tragic and doing such catastrophic harm, the ignorance that Dawn Primarolo displays about what causes obesity would be hilarious.

Fast food restaurants should have to advertise calorie counts, says Minister
Article in the Telegraph

Fast food restaurants should have to advertise how many calories are in their meals, the public health minister, Dawn Primarolo, has said.

Extract:

""I know good diet isn't just about calorie content, and I know there will be difficulties for independent restaurants, but we have to start somewhere. Why can't we have calorie content on menus in all chain restaurants?"

She also called for soft drinks manufacturers to produce their products in smaller sizes.

She praised drinks companies for the range of low sugar drinks on the market.

But she called for greater numbers of soft drinks to come in "snack" sizes.""

"The minister was speaking at a conference on food and health organised by the Department of Health and the Food Standards Agency."

They're all as bad as each, it appears...)o: - The calorie content is the least important bit of information that is provided for food. It would not be going too far really to assert that the calorie content is completely irrelevant! - It's totally irrelevant for obesity reduction anyway, and, in my opinion, should not be included in the nutritional information on food wrappers, etc. The most important information needed is the salt content.

Until the truth is told - and nothing BUT the truth - about how to prevent/reduce obesity, then the increase in the incidence of type 2 diabetes and all the other illnesses attendant on obesity, aka fluid retention, will continue inexorably to rise. - It is FLUID RETENTION that needs to be addressed - the real cause of obesity - not over-eating, the completely imaginary cause that doctors and the other ill-informed diet bullies have invented.

Obesity is not caused by eating to excess or by insufficient exercise. There has never been a scrap of reproducible scientific research or evidence to support the theory that excess calorie intake causes obesity, nor that calorie deficit reduces obesity. The theory and the advice it spawns should be abandoned forthwith. They cause great harm and suffering.

When people whose blood vessels are weaker than the norm eat salt, the result is weight gain and obesity (because of excess sodium and water held in the blood vessels and elsewhere). This condition is also known as sodium retention, water retention, fluid retention, salt sensitivity or oedema. Did you see last night on Channel 4 that tiny, tiny baby kangaroo/joey emerge from its mother and make its difficult way to the teat in her pouch?

Extraordinary Animals in the Womb

As I write, there are 30 days in which you can catch up with viewing it here - http://www.channel4.com/video/brandless-catchup.jsp?vodBrand=extraordinary-animals-in-the-womb

More details of the programme are here:

http://forums.digiguide.com/topic.asp?id=27454&subject=Extraordinary+Animals+in+The+Womb+showing+on+Channel+4

and on many other webpages.

Extract:

""In Extraordinary Animals in the Womb, the embryonic journeys of four very remarkable animals are brought to life as they develop from conception to birth. The shark, whose cannibalistic embryos will eat their own siblings to survive; the emperor penguin, whose egg-bound chicks must battle the coldest weather on the planet; the kangaroo, whose underdeveloped foetus will undergo an exceptionally premature birth; and the parasitic wasp - whose larvae must hijack and exploit the body of another creature.

Filming across three continents, and making use of the latest HD camera technology, the Animals in the Womb team swam with pregnant sharks and witnessed up close the torment of parasitised caterpillars. Groundbreaking photography takes us inside the pouch of a kangaroo, and remarkable scans and special effects reveal 14 half-metre young inside the womb of a wild shark."

The miniscule joey interested me the most - blind, so tiny, so red, so delicate, so vulnerable and dependent. - You may wonder why it is red. - This is because its skin is extremely thin and what you are really seeing is its blood vessels through the transparent window of the ultra-thin skin. - It so obviously needs a safe place in which to feed and grow (the mother's pouch with the teat) till its skin, etc are strong enough to be exposed to the 'outside' world and its hazards and stresses.

There are some similarities, you may be surprised to learn, between the joey and a morbidly obese steroid victim! - The fatter anyone becomes, the thinner their skin becomes and so the closer to the surface are the blood vessels and so the redder their skin appears - red face, red hands, red arms, red-skinned legs, red or purple feet, etc - swollen with distended veins, swollen with pain, vulnerable to knocks, harmed by pressure, easily bruised and further damaged...

But unlike the joey, obese people have no chance of building up the strength and thickness/firmness of their skin: - once depleted, the skin's thickness cannot return. - These problems are worsened by dieting. - Dieting, by which I mean eating less food/fewer calories than the body requires in the mistaken belief that this will reduce obesity, is EXTREMELY HARMFUL. - The skin gets very much thinner very much faster, and the blood vessel walls get very much thinner very much faster too. - This obviously causes the blood vessel walls to be overstretched and stressed and much weaker, which results in them becoming distended (fluid retention) with extra fluid, so causing WEIGHT GAIN, NOT WEIGHT LOSS.

To reduce excess weight you need to reduce the fluid retention that has caused the weight gain. - So you need to avoid dieting/'slimming' and instead concentrate on avoiding salt and salty food, because that extra fluid in the veins is extra sodium and water, and to lose some of it you need to reduce your sodium intake.

When people whose blood vessels are weaker than the norm eat salt, the result is weight gain and obesity (because of excess sodium and water held in the blood vessels and elsewhere). This condition is also known as sodium retention, water retention, fluid retention, salt sensitivity or oedema. If these people reduce their salt intake they lose some of the excess sodium and water, and so lose weight, and if they eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables they lose weight faster, because the potassium in the fruit and vegetables displaces some of the excess sodium from the body.

By looking at the blood vessels on the back of the eye you can assess the state of the cardiovascular system and see the damage caused by high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. As the eyes are so close to the brain and supplied by a nerve coming straight from it, a host of neurological conditions are also evident from simply looking into them. Chicken soup helps to lower blood pressure, scientists have found. So does eating less salt and salty food.

Chicken soup lowers blood pressure
Article in the Telegraph

Extracts:

"The soup, sometimes dubbed Grandma's penicillin, has been used as a folk remedy to cure all ills.

But researchers have discovered that the chicken leg meat used to make the soup contains a chemical known as an ACE inhibitor, which lowers blood pressure.

These inhibitors reduce tension in muscles which in turn reduce the tension on blood vessels and the blood that runs through them.

Ai Saiga, a scientist at Hiroshima University, carried out tests on rats and found proteins produced a significant and prolonged decrease in blood pressure."

"High blood pressure is thought to be the main factor of cardiovascular disease and stroke. It is reported that there are more than one billion people in the world with the condition."
