Hilary Mantel spoke a little about the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice (the opera Orfeo is now 400 years old) - and from there about 'the human impulse to try to retrieve what is lost, to want to go back into the past and change it'. She linked this with the continuing interest in Princess Diana and her death.
She did not speak of what I suppose to be the very personal slant she must have on this theme of wanting to retrieve what was lost. - If you read Mantel's books or read online reviews of them, you will find that she has her own experience and insight into metamorphosing from a size 10 to a size 20 because of being medicated as psychologically disturbed when in fact she had a serious physical illness (endometriosis) which rendered her infertile.
If you who are reading this have experience of colossal weight gain from prescribed medications, I urge you to visit my website and learn how this came about. - You have the chance NOW to transform your life for the better and indeed to retrieve some of that which was lost.
