You've tried many diets. They didn't work. You know that dieting doesn't work. You know that you end up weighing more than before. To do again what you have done so many times before and expect a different outcome does not make sense. - Give up dieting! - Let the deadly dieting industry make money out of other people, not you, in 2011.
Eating fewer calories than your body needs is likely to cause you health problems like eating disorders and osteoporosis, and will NOT make you slim. - Here is how to lose excess weight without counting calories or going hungry: cut down on salt and salty food. This reduces the fluid retention which is the basic cause of overweight or obesity. You will definitely lose weight - and you will lose it rapidly and safely.

This evening I watched the Channel 4 Cutting Edge programme about Dana, the 8 year old who is described as an anorexic.
Much was made, and rightly so, of the fact that younger and younger children are getting caught up in the dieting lunacy that looms so large in the thoughts of so many people, particularly young females, these days.
See http://www.channel4.com/culture/microsites/C/cutting_edge/dana/index.html
Efforts were made to pin down just what had turned Dana from being a healthy little girl into one obsessed with the determination to lose weight, come what might. Her mother thought it was probably several factors that came together, and mentioned one as being that Dana had taken to watching a weight loss channel on TV.
It's easy to think of other likely factors - the witless obsession with dieting in most glossy magazines, the unnaturally slim/thin models pictured in the magazines, the dieting junk that comprises a lot of the 'food' sold in supermarkets and elsewhere.
It's all deplorable: that healthy children and young people (and older people) spend so much of their waking hours consumed with thoughts about how to avoid eating, when they should be getting on with living their lives...

Children hate their bodies and yearn to be thin. Anxiety about eating can lead to eating disorders.
Children hate their bodies and yearn to be thin
Extract from the Sunday Telegraph:
"Young children associate being thin with being "popular" and being overweight with being "nasty", attitudes that experts say could lead to eating disorders later in life.
The stresses faced by young children are revealed in the eighth series of the BBC's Child of Our Time, which has followed 25 children since their births in 2000.
The influence of so-called "size zero" culture was revealed when the children, none of whom was overweight, were asked to choose their ideal figure from a series of drawings. All the girls aspired to be thinner and thought that the fuller figures would have fewer friends. One girl said, unprompted, that the largest figure would be "nasty because she is fat". One child, Rhianna, a healthy, normal-sized seven-year-old from Yorkshire, said in the first episode: "I just don't like my body shape. I think I look really fat. I don't like it."
John Oates, a psychologist with the Open University, which has co-produced the series, said: "For the girls, in particular, weight was linked to attractiveness. The media portrayal of attractiveness being about thinness is picked up by children at an early age. Anxiety about eating is definitely a problem that can lead towards eating disorders.""
If everyone was to be told the truth about how people become fat, then there would be very few people with eating disorders. The truth is that obesity has a number of possible causes. Fluid retention/water retention/salt sensitivity is a major and unrecognised route to child obesity because most children these days eat too much salt and salty food. There are other additional possible causes in adults.
Whatever has caused a person to be overweight/fat/obese, they will lose much of that excess weight if they avoid eating salt and salty food.
Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, vascular dementia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!

Banning under-16s from catwalk 'will cut rate of eating disorders'
Banning under-16s from catwalk 'will cut rate of eating disorders' - Independent
Extract:
"Models under 16 should be banned from the catwalks and tougher measures introduced to protect their older teenage peers from eating disorders, an independent inquiry has concluded.
Eating disorders affect as many as 40 per cent of workers where body shape counts, including dancers, athletes and models, although no specific studies of the fashion industry have been made, the inquiry set up by the British Fashion Council found.
In the general population the incidence of eating disorders is about 3 per cent.
The inquiry was launched seven weeks ago in response to concern about demand for "size zero" models. In its interim report, published yesterday, the inquiry panel calls for extra protection for girls aged 16 to 18 to prevent them being exploited.
Models who gave evidence to the inquiry described their fear of being rejected for work because they were not thin enough."
It's such a crying shame that people do not know (because they are not told) that the fastest and safest way to lose weight is to give up dieting (because it is harmful) and to stop eating salt and salty food and dieting junk and to eat plenty of fruit and fresh vegetables.
Lose weight by eating less salt! Go on! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!

Ofsted inspections are causing so much pressure on teachers that some of them kill themselves.
Inspection pressure 'drives teachers to suicide' - Telegraph
Extracts:
"Teachers are being driven to suicide because of pressure from school inspectors, it was claimed yesterday.
Others are becoming hooked on drink and drugs or developing eating disorders after being swamped by work, according to the National Union of Teachers.
At the union's annual conference in Harrogate, teachers told how they had been reduced to tears in the classroom and warned that colleagues had taken their lives after working up to 90 hours a week.
One head teacher committed suicide just two months after quitting because of a critical inspection by Ofsted, the education watchdog.
Another teacher disappeared on the morning she was due to face Government inspectors and was found dead more than 10 months later in parkland.
A snapshot survey of primary and secondary school teachers in Nottingham, which was presented to the conference, revealed that a third resort to drugs, drink, smoking or binge eating to help them cope. One in 15 takes prescribed medication to get through the day, said the survey of 140 teachers."
"The NUT said it had written to Beverley Hughes, the children's minister, requesting a meeting to discuss the problem of stress, but had been refused."
Teaching is a very stressful job and most teachers get little or no help with their stress problems. I suspect it is the 'prescribed medication' that is precipitating any eating disorders that arise. - It's a very poor show that Beverley Hughes has refused to discuss the problem of the stress that teachers experience.
