Kellogg's to reduce high salt content of Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes and other breakfast cereals

Kellogg's is to reduce the high salt content of Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes, Coco Pops and Ricicles, Frosties and Crunchy Nut, from March, as reported here. Well this is very good news. It will save a lot of suffering. The salt content of these junk cereals will still be high though, even after the reduction. "The move follows repeated warnings from the FSA that the nation is eating too much salt, calculating the average daily salt consumption is 8.6g, which is 43% above the recommended limit of 6g. The figure is linked to 14,200 premature deaths a year from conditions linked to high blood pressure, including strokes and heart attacks."

These cereals are especially unsuitable for toddlers and small children because children are more vulnerable to salt than adults are. High salt intake is a primary cause of child obesity.
