One in three of Britain's dogs overweight
Extract from the Telegraph:
"Nearly two million dogs in Britain are overweight as obesity levels soar in our pets, a leading charity has warned.
PDSA, the veterinary charity, released its report to coincide with Crufts, which begins today. It found that almost one in three dogs is overweight - nine per cent more than last year. Many of the animals suffer from heart disease, breathing difficulties, diabetes and arthritis."
It is salt and salty food that causes obesity in domestic pets like dogs and cats. If you feed your dog some of your pizzas or other fast food takeaways, for example, you will cause it to put on weight because pizzas and other takeaways contain a lot of salt. - And because of the smaller size of dogs and cats, salt does more damage to dogs and cats than to humans.Dog food made and sold for dogs will not be high in salt and so will not cause your pet to become obese and get all the other problems of ill-health that are associated with obesity.
