Average Drug Label lists 70 potential side-effects!

MSNBC.com reports that the average Drug Label lists 70 potential side-effects/drug reactions! - “The greatest number of side effects was found in antidepressants, antiviral medications and newer treatments for restless leg syndrome and Parkinson's disease. In general, medications typically used by psychiatrists and neurologists had the most complex labels, while drugs used by dermatologists and ophthalmologists had the least.” Read what Dr Mercola has to say about this report.

And Dr Mercola tells us that "according to the latest statistics from the Kaiser Health Foundation, the average American aged 19 to 64 now takes more than 11 prescription drugs!" - And all of them have their side-effects! And side-effects are potentiated when more than one drug is being taken! - No wonder that prescription drugs occasion many thousands of visits to emergency services and are the fourth-leading cause of death in the United States!

Clearly this is a deplorable state of affairs. On my own website, more people visit with concerns about amitriptyline and other antidepressants, than about any other drug or family of drugs. And since antidepressants work no better than dummy pills and have lots of undesirable side-effects, most commonly weight gain/fluid retention/sodium retention, the massive prescribing of these particular harmful prescription drugs could and should be stopped ASAP, with great benefit to health and massive saving of money.

Drug Companies condemned for conning the public with misleading claims about their products

The Telegraph carries two articles about this: here and here. - Donald Light, a professor of comparative health policy at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey, US, slated drug companies in a paper he presented today, in which he explained that the ""toxic side effects" of prescription drugs" made them "a significant cause of death."

I note the comment that, "When patients complained of adverse reactions, studies showed doctors were likely to dismiss them, he said." This has been my own experience as a patient harmed by the devastating side-effects of certain prescription drugs and the colossal ignorance of doctors about the side-effects. I also welcome the professor's scathing remarks about statins, which are surely very high on the list of drugs about which the public and the medical profession are being conned.

My advice is to avoid prescription drugs if you possibly can, because on the whole they assuredly do a great deal more harm than good. Improving your nutrition is the safest way to improve your health. For example, avoiding salt and salty food will lower your cholesterol levels and improve your heart health without any side-effects at all.

Soaring drugs bill 'threatens to bankrupt NHS'

I have copied and pasted the following, with the Comment paragraph, from Dr Rath's newsletter. I fully concur with Dr Rath's views on this matter. My personal strongly-held, sincere belief is that pharmaceutical drugs do far, far more harm than good and are the cause of most of the avoidable illness in the world. They are a major cause of obesity, and in particular, of morbid obesity. They have certainly done me great harm: destroyed my life, health and happiness, and I would urge caution on everyone contemplating taking prescribed medication. Check it out as thoroughly as you can before deciding whether to take it.

The NHS risks bankruptcy from a soaring drugs bill which is outstripping Britain's GDP growth according to a report. The report, by the pressure group Compass, calls for regulation of the pharmaceutical industry to curb prices. The coalition of academics, campaigners and union leaders also warns that the billions spent by big pharma on seminars and conferences gives companies undue influence over doctors.

Comment: If the health service in the UK - where the government can still negotiate drug prices - is risking bankruptcy, what chance do other countries stand of avoiding a similar fate? In the U.S., for example, the government has already capitulated to the pharma mafia and essentially pays whatever the drug cartel wants. Meantime, whilst its annual sales now total 773 billion dollars, adverse reactions from the cartel’s drugs continue to kill and injure millions of innocent patients each and every year. In the U.S., it has been estimated that a staggering 2,216,000 hospitalized patients have serious adverse drug reactions (ADRs) each year, whilst 106,000 have fatal ADRs. This means that such reactions are between the fourth and sixth leading cause of death in that country. Meantime, the drug cartel spends billions of dollars every year disingenuously marketing its drugs to doctors under the guise of "continuing medical education", whilst, at the same time, omitting to mention that most of them cause a multitude of new diseases as a result of their known long-term side effects. And, of course, as if all this were not bad enough, the cartel is holding over six-billion people hostage by doing everything it can to eliminate the non-patentable natural alternatives to its products.
