See BBC News article. It is such a shame that overweight people are mostly unaware - because the health professionals do not tell them - that reducing their intake of salt and salty food will reduce their excess weight by reducing their excess fluid retention/water weight, caused by sensitivity to salt. It is even more important, during pregnancy, that women keep their salt/sodium intake low, because the natural hormone changes that occur during pregnancy make them even more vulnerable to salt during the period of pregnancy. It is salt reduction, rather than calorie reduction, that should be advocated. Salt reduction would reduce the risk of miscarriage, as well as the risk of high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia, excessive weight gain and many other health problems associated with pregnancy, both IVF pregnancies and non-IVF pregnancies.

Women should have just one embryo implanted during fertility treatment to cut the chance of them having more risky twin births, experts warn.
One embryo at a time 'makes IVF less risky'
Extract from the Telegraph:
"Women should have just one embryo implanted during fertility treatment to cut the chance of them having more risky twin births, experts warn.
The call to cut the number of multiple pregnancies created through IVF came as a British study showed that an emerging technique can achieve the same success rate with just one embryo as two.
Most women receiving IVF treatment are implanted with two or more embryos at one time, to maximise their chances of becoming pregnant.
The practice has led to a boom in multiple births - twins now make up one in four IVF births, compared to just one in 80 of those naturally conceived.
But twins or triplets are more likely to die before or during birth, or have profound disabilities such as cerebral palsy.
Scientists estimate 126 fewer babies would die every year if all IVF children were single births.
Dr Gillian Lockwood, of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists's ethics committee, said some IVF patients should be given one embryo to limit the number of multiple births.
"Multiple pregnancies do not give you two for the price of one," she said, "they carry with them significant risks and dangers."
Dr Lockwood, who is also medical director at Midland Fertility Services, near Birmingham, said the lifetime costs of treating cerebral palsy can run into millions, money which she said could be spent on extra courses of IVF.
But the college warned that patients would continue to ignore the dangers posed by multiple pregnancies while they were offered just one course of IVF on the NHS.
A new study, published in the BJOG journal, shows that a technique which uses just one embryo has a better success rate in many patients than traditional IVF."
If you are infertile because you are overweight/obese, you can greatly improve your situation by avoiding eating salt and salty food. This reduces fluid retention, which is the cause of obesity.
To lose weight obese people need to give up dieting and just avoid eating salt and salty food.
