Jane Akre's blogpage about Medical Negligence is well worth reading

I recommend Jane Akre's webpage: Five Myths about Medical Negligence as a welcome antidote to the misinformation commonly promulgated by powerful interested parties.

This article by the British medical doctor, James LeFanu, in the Telegraph, adds ballast to the subject matter: Arrogant Doctors.

  1. Most health care mistakes result in little or no harm to the patient. In fact, despite an increasing openness between doctors and their patients, it's probably fair to say that in many cases the patient isn't even aware a mistake has been made. Lawyers have an obligation to make appropriate use of our legal system and not pursue merit less cases. We take this responsibility seriously. And to ensure that we do not bring frivolous lawsuits, each case goes through a rigorous review process. Each case of suspected medical malpractice is thoroughly evaluated by one or more highly qualified medical experts who then certify by affidavit that there is a valid basis for filing suit against a physician or hospital.
