Obesity is caused by fluid retention. It affects the groups of people who are sensitive/vulnerable to salt/sodium. - Reducing salt intake reduces fluid retention and so reduces excess weight safely and rapidly. - Dieting/eating fewer calories than your body requires - increases fluid retention because it weakens the blood vessel walls and so dieting usually causes weight gain, not weight loss.
