Social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook are being asked to restrict online groups that promote anorexia

Pro-anorexia rife on social networking sites - Telegraph

Extract:

"Eating disorder charities have called on social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook to restrict online groups that promote anorexia as a "lifestyle choice".

Pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia sites feature photographs of emaciated women and encourage victims to become dangerously thin.

The groups are appearing on MySpace and Facebook as well as YouTube, a popular video sharing site.
Many of the groups have been shut down by internet service providers.

The charities say that the groups claim to offer support but instead glorify mental illnesses.

A search of Facebook revealed several "pro-ana" groups, many with almost 1,000 members.

On MySpace, which has 115 million members, another group features photos of models alongside the warning "no people trying to recover, it ruins our motivation".

Thousands of people have viewed clips on YouTube that feature women showing their jutting bones, and sharing tips about how to avoid food."

A completely safe, reliable and very fast way to lose excess weight is to avoid eating salt and salty food, and to make sure of eating good healthy meals with plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit.
